ok,
When you are refinishing floors, dont mess around with what kind of poly you are going to use. After useing different heep ones I have stuck with the more expensive and better Minwax. I am useing the water bourn stuff this time around. All I can say is wow. 8^) The floors are comming out awsome. 8^) SO, again dont try to cheep out of the floor finish. 8^) Also, prep just sanding out ther floors sweeping and going to town with the base coat is bad bad bad. 8^) Find a friend with OCD get the floors and air clean enough to make him happy. 8^)
Haloween weekend was good, There was a big party at the Schuster Mansion. 8^) Last time was a few years ago, its amazing the progress they have made on the place. The ballroom is a ballroom again, with a full on night club set of lights I should have take some real pics of it. 8^( I went as buddy christ.

Barry went as a guy from Finnish black metal band.

Good news, the floors are stripped and probably getting sanded right now. 8^)
Hopefully by tonight we will be ready and cleaned up enough to put down the first coat of poly. 8^)
This just keeps getting better
The windows putting is dowing the slow dry now, I still need to do a little work of the sashes before putting them back in.. Hopefully right after Haloween they will be in.. Sunday we should have the middle bedrrom all painted and the ceiling painted in the front bedroom.. Meaning I can focus on trim monday and tuesday, leaving next week for doing the fancy parts of the new master bedrooms paint job. Most importantly that menas I will be sleeping in the new bedroom by the end of next weekend. 8^)

ok,
I am mfinishing my last week of being an extreeme commuter. This means good things like having more time and being more awake, and most importantly haveing after work energy to spend on completing some projects. Still, I feel like I have been a bit more slacktastic this week than I should be. We should be renting the floor sander tomarrow morning… Or better put the brother should be, as I will be in Chicago at that time. By tomarrow night we should be putting the first coat of water based poly on the upstairs floors. Which is also good. 8^) In the mean time I have been moving very slow on finishing reglazing the windows. I expected to have them donw by now, but I have not touched them since Sunday night… I still have 6 sashes to glaze, so technicaly I am one sash from the 50% mark.. THe other problem is the damm putty is taking its sweet time hardening up I have DAP for the rest of the windows which I rememebr haveing a shorter setup time when I last did this. Since the windowss are going on the southern exposure I need to make sure to do a good job of priming and painting the outside before haning them or I will be reglazing them in no time.. 8^P I will pass on that. I suppose I can finish up the glazing tonight, while the floor stripping is going on.. I really hope by Tuesday to be moving into the new room.. 8^)
But there are still a number of annoying labor intensive things to finish first… Like the floor and the paint and the windows.. I can trim the rooms while they are being lived in just fine. Paint is a completelty different story though… In good news I managed to find a place on line where I can buy light and outlet plates in bright copper finish for cheep.. 8^)
I just feel lazy right now.
Ivan
8^)
There is a new Tina Karol video out.. Not exaclty having anything to do with the house, other than the fact that she is hot, and hmm still nothing to do with the house, but she is still hot. 8^)
See what I mean?
Ivan
real progres, that feels like real progress.
We got the primer up this weekend. Which means the plaster is all dealt with as well. Again, dont let the beginners do all of the base coat. It makes the secodn coat suck. THey were showing alot of improvement by saturday morning. I just forget how much practice it takes before you have mad plaster skillz. 8^) Good thing is the wals in both rooms dont look perfect, but they look damm good. Personally, perfect was not really the goal. Its an old house and ment to have character, perfect walls would have stood out like a sore thumb, slightly imperfect looks perfect though. 8^)
Left to do.
Sand and refinish floors
finish reglazing windows, sand fill sand and refinish them
Window and door trim, and install the windows
Paint!
Install baseboards, picture rails and crown moulding
Install the real lights.
Wow, that list used to be a heck of a lot longer than that. 8^)
Suddenly I am reminded that I need to find some average sidex baseboard heat vents. The old kind from the 30’s Though I suppose since the stuffs all open enough yet I could retro fit one of the spare old cast iron ones into place. The bigger ones from the 30s look to be able to feeed the air faster though. Not even sure what to do on this one, I dont want to mess with delivering warm air to the room in January especially this year next year with the radiant system on line I wont much care as the room will already be warm.. But this winter even with insulation and stuff the room needs help.
Ohh I should get this down before I forget, been thinking about the walls for the attic. The attic as a rule is going to be a heck of alot more contemporary/modern looking than the rest of the house. There is just no good way to hide the fact that the furniture will all be Ikea and there is that 101 inch screen dropping down from the ceiling.. So, I have this wacky idea of papering the walls with big fortune cookie fortunes. I have been collecting them for years.. I have piles of some of the wackiest fortunes around, So, I was thingking of putting down a base color and then cutting 1.5 x 4 foot pieces of while wall paper and stensiling the fortune and lucky numbers to them and putting them up in random haphazzard ways on the walls. I think it could look cool in a 80’s extreme home makeover sort of way. 8^P
